OEC News – I am the new JOE.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce
myself as the Region OEC Advisor. As many of you are aware Joe has retired
as the Region OEC Advisor and I agreed to take over for him.
This is my 10th season as a patroller. I
have patrolled in West Michigan at Bittersweet and here in the South Central
at Sunburst. I have been an OEC instructor for 9 years and an OEC IT for 2
years. I am honored to be able to serve you.
Reminder to OEC Instructors: we have to take a
continuing education class (CEIC) every three years. I have sent out a
letter to each of you that needs to recertify this year. There are 4 dates
to choose from. 2 are on the east side and 2 are on the west side. They
are:
Tuesday September 19th, east side – 7:00 pm

(Sorry that we don’t have the locations set for these
CEIC’s as I am writing this. I will send them out to those affected as soon
as I get them).
If you are an OEC IT, the OEC IT Update planned for the
Division Meeting on Sept 9 in Wausau can be credited as your CEIC.
Part of the three year cycle is to be observed as
instructor. This can be completed at an OEC class or Refresher. I will need
your completed OEC Re-Certification Observation Form returned to me by
11/4/2006.
The Fall OEC Refreshers are scheduled. Remember to
read the ON SCENE for your review prior to attending your refresher. It
might be a good time to check your butt pack for worn out items and get them
replaced before the refresher. I always find some gooey hard candy in the
bottom of mine!
For those of you interested in SEM this year please
fill out the attached form and return it to me by 12/8/2006. The dates for
SEM are:
January 27th, 2007 and February 24th,
2007.
