Insurance

From Jim Stein, Insurance Advisor-

As I well know from calls we get all the time, I am sure some of you "shop" your insurance quite a bit. That may be OK in some scenarios. But, unless your agent doesn't know more than you do, you should trust in his/her efforts. It would make sense to revisit your insurance coverage with him/her. That will give him/her the occasion to make certain your insurance company is the best one for your circumstances.

You can use that opportunity to find out for yourself that your Home/Renters Insurance will defend you and pay a claim should you be sued for rendering first aid on the slopes, regardless of the Good Samaritan statutorial protections. It should go without saying that your policy would cover if you bumped someone while skiing/snowboarding and they sued.

Say! What about all the value in your "butt pack" or vest? That would be covered, as well as your skis/board (not for "mysterious disappearance" unless scheduled), under your home contents cover. But, it would be subject to your deductible (again, unless scheduled). Here, too, talk with your agent about this.

Refresh well this fall. You never know if/when someone like me goes down with a heart attack.
